At least two people were injured and taken to a hospital after a shooting at a high school in Arlington, Texas, on Wednesday, a local official said.
An Arlington Police Department spokeswoman, Brenda Van Sickle, said officers responded to the report of a shooting at Timberview High School on Wednesday morning. The Mansfield Independent School District said the school was on lockdown.
The school is in Arlington but is part of the school district in Mansfield, in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Mansfield’s mayor, Michael Evans, said on Wednesday that there were no reports of fatalities but that “at least two” people had been injured in the shooting and taken to a hospital for surgery.
It was not immediately clear whether the injured people were students or employees, he said.
The authorities were still in pursuit of the assailant, he said.
